The tempos are all wrong especially the 4th movement. Vasily Petrenko, Vladimir Jurowski and possibly Valery Gergiev are the current Russian (hence native) exponents of this repertory, and Petrenko here again does not in any way disappoint the listener.

Conducting good, playing a little weak as might be expected from a second tier orchestra. This is terrific Tchaikovsky. The set groups the composer's earliest notable work alongside one of his most joyful and one of his most popular.
